Nova Julia Expedition Leg One

The trail along the edge of this mandelfield is scattered with these closed composite Julias that I found quite irresistible, more on them in the second leg:







In places it became too hot for the plant life to survive:







I passed formations that were translucent like some kind of soft and detailed organic crystal:
